Saif and Amrita’s marriage lead to some resentment in the family at first. <\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh tied the knot in 1991 but separated in 2004 after having two children, daughter Sara Ali Khan and son Ibrahim Ali Khan. Despite initial discontent from their families, the couple\u2019s relationship improved over their 13 years together. Saif\u2019s sister, Soha Ali Khan, recently reflected on how she coped with their divorce, noting her close bond with Amrita.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese are things that you don\u2019t have any control over. It\u2019s like when a marriage ends, then those families will also go through some kind of change and adjustment, and you may find your own independent equation after some time, but it\u2019s complicated,” Soha Ali Khan told Nayandeep Rakshit.<\/p>\n

Soha said, \u201cSo I feel like, for me, Amrita was someone who I have lived with in her house. She has looked after me. She has taken me for photoshoots and done so much. We have played Scrabble together.” She said that it took her some time to adjust to the new family dynamic.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen that (Saif and Amrita\u2019s) relationship ends, of course, you go through a moment of processing and transition, and you allow, firstly, them to find their equation and then you have to find your own equation within that. So I think that is something that we went through, and now, I think there is a settlement. The children are all grown up. You can be yourself in a way. Sara and Ibrahim were very young then,” she said.<\/p>\n

Previously, Sharmila Tagore appeared on Koffee With Karan and reflected on the divorce. She said, \u201cWhen you are together for such a long time, and you have two lovely children, then no breakup is easy. It\u2019s difficult to have harmony at that stage, and it hurts. That stage was not nice. But I tried. That\u2019s water under the bridge.”<\/p>\n

\u201cShe needed time to cool down. They worked it out together. It\u2019s not just staying away; there are so many other things involved. It wasn\u2019t a happy time for us, because Ibrahim was just three, and we were very, very fond of the children. Especially, Tiger was very fond of Ibrahim, and he would say, \u2018That\u2019s a good lad\u2019. And he didn\u2019t get that time,” Sharmila had said.<\/p>\n

While Saif Ali Khan got remarried, Amrita Singh remained single over the years. Saif married Kareena Kapoor in 2012. They have two sons \u2013 Taimur and Jeh. Kareena also shares a close, friendly bond with Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan.<\/p>\n
