OpenAI is helping developers build AI agents from scratch<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

OpenAI is entering the AI agent business with the new AgentKit that was announced by CEO Sam Altman at the company\u2019s DevDay event. ChatGPT might be its bread and butter in the market but AI agents are really becoming a core part of the changing workflows and OpenAI wants to help developers build their own agents that fit their purpose and use case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

AgentKit sounds very much like something Apple would announce, except, the company is yet to truly embrace AI let alone AI agents. ChatGPT caters to both users and businesses in different ways but the company needs developers who will make the future more AI-centric for its business aspirations.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

OpenAI AgentKit: What Is It?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

OpenAI says AgentKit is a set of building blocks that let you ideate, build and publish AI agents that can be used by other people. This does sound like a one-stop solution to create AI agents with a chat interface built into it so that immediate deployment is easy and doable.<\/span><\/p>\n

AgentKit has been divided into multiple layers which includes AgentBuilder that will be the pivot to design the interface and the structure of the AI agent, while ChatKit allows users to have chat embedded into the apps.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou can bring your own brand, your own workflows, whatever makes your own product unique,” Altman said.<\/span><\/p>\n

OpenAI did have its own demo moment for AI agents at the DevDay event, where one of OpenAI engineers was able to build the full AI workflow stack and two AI agents onstage in less than 8 minutes. Altman claims the company has always dreamt of having AI agents rolling out this quickly, and they are already working with third-party companies to deploy similar AgentKits across platforms.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The company is having other challenges, especially on the hardware front. The big product launch from OpenAI that is likely to be screen-less and not a wearable is facing delays<\/a> because of the challenges faced by the company. The delays are being attributed to challenges with the focus of the product and also how to design its use case.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Both Ive and Altman had announced the product plans earlier this year, which tagged along with a strange looking press image. The new report mentions that OpenAI is not sure about its resources that will be needed to get ChatGPT running on the hardware to make it a success. <\/span><\/p>\n
