Samsung Galaxy S22 users are getting their last Android update, know why<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Samsung Galaxy S22 series is now getting the Android 16-based One UI 8 update from the company, which is also its last major OS upgrade. The Galaxy S22 models are reportedly getting the new version in Europe, as mentioned by tipster Tarun Vats<\/em> this week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While it is good news to see the older Galaxy S22 models get the latest Android 16 update so soon, this will be the last Android version that these users will get, going by the officially promised update cycle. Samsung has been quite good with its OS support<\/a> in the last few years but the S22 series didn\u2019t get that luck.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Samsung Galaxy S22 Updates End: Should You Upgrade?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The news about Galaxy S22 models not getting past the Android 16 update is not new but will surely have many puzzled about the company\u2019s stance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Galaxy S22 series was launched with Android 12 out of the box and promised 4 OS upgrades, which it has delivered with the new One UI 8 update on its way to the S22, S22 Plus and the S22 Ultra models. <\/span><\/p>\n

However, next year\u2019s One UI 9 version based on Android 17 will require you to have the S23 series or later models to get the new update. And if you want the advanced 7 OS upgrade support, Samsung wants people to buy the S24 or later models.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So, does that mean you should ditch the S22 for good and upgrade or persist using a device which might be vulnerable to attacks?\u00a0<\/span>Well, there is some positive news on that front since Samsung will offer one more year of security updates for the S22 series, which keeps it safe from possible cyber threats for the next 12 months. <\/span><\/p>\n

After which the risks manifold and people will have no choice but to buy a new phone. Having said that, if people are happy with the performance levels of their S22 models, they can prolong its use till they really feel the need to jump ship.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Samsung\u2019s One UI 7 update delays last year seem to have been reworked for the Android 16 update which made its way to the market even before Google launched the new Pixel 10 series this year. <\/span><\/p>\n
