India has a large unsaturated domestic market that offers significant investment opportunities for private investment, said the 15th Finance Commission Chairman NK Singh at the sideline of the 4th \u2018Kautilya Economic Conclave 2025\u2019 in New Delhi. According to ANI report, Singh said that \u201cwe are at the inflexion point when there are there are many virtuous circles that will enable us to effectively address the headwinds that may be before us.”<\/p>\n

Singh also outlined India\u2019s macroeconomic strengths and growth trajectory.<\/p>\n

As per ANI report, Singh said that India remains the he world\u2019s fastest-growing major economy, thanks to a robust macroeconomic foundation. \u201cIt is heading towards becoming the third-largest economy globally,” Singh added.<\/p>\n

Singh also highlighted that the real GDP growth jumped to 7.8 per cent in April-June 2025, outpacing expectations. \u201cEven after recalibration, the Reserve Bank of India expects a conservative GDP growth estimate of 6.8 per cent for FY 2025-26. These are not small achievements,” he added.<\/p>\n

On the GST 2.0 reforms, Singh added that changes will enhance fiscal space, boost consumption, improve ease of doing business, reinforce investor confidence and contribute to higher economic growth.<\/p>\n

Singh said that India\u2019s household income growth pace has accelerated at above 6.5 per cent per annum. \u201cIndia\u2019s average real growth for many decades was around 3.5 per cent with population growing at just over 2 per cent, resulting in per capita income growth of just 1 per cent,” he said, saying that it has now increasing six fold in comparison to the past.<\/p>\n

Singh also said that the power of compounding implies that per capita income could double by the end of this decade. \u201cThis is surely the path of prosperity,” Singh added.<\/p>\n
