Jadeja Says Team India Is Missing Ashiwn<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Ravichandran Ashwin may have retired from Test cricket, but the Indian team misses him. This was Ravindra Jadeja\u2019s honest admission after India defeated the West Indies on Saturday by an innings and 140 runs. While India rediscovered home dominance in Ahmedabad, Jadeja bagged the Player of the Match award. The southpaw notched up his 6th<\/sup> Test century before his magical figures \u2013 4\/54 \u2013 punctured the West Indies batting order.<\/p>\n

The Ahmedabad Test was India\u2019s first since the spin great\u2019s retirement. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jadeja said he often feels like Ashwin would follow him in bowling until he realises the reality.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlaying a Test in India without Ash, somewhere it feels Ash would bowl now, but then the realisation comes that he is not there,” Jadeja said.<\/p>\n

\u201cKuldeep (Yadav) and Washy (Washington Sundar) have played enough games, so we cannot term them youngsters, but it was a different combination. In future, you will say Jaddu is not there, but then someone else will come along, and that has to happen. This will go on,” he added.<\/p>\n

Jadeja said India had a declaration in mind since stumps on the second day, knowing a lead of 286 runs in the first innings was enough against a struggling West Indies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were thinking about the declaration last night because we thought on this wicket, 280 plus runs would be good enough,” he said.<\/p>\n

Jadeja, who was named vice-captain ahead of this Test series, said it was merely a tag and one that did not bring any change in his game and that India will have a very strong team for all conditions soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cNothing like that. I have been playing the way I have been playing for the past so many years. (There is) nothing special that I need to think like that. But whenever someone asks me, what we can do, what the tactics should be\u2026 I always give my inputs, so if the team wants something, I am always happy to do it,” he added.<\/p>\n
