The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised Aadhaar update fees, with the changes coming into effect from October 1, 2025. Under the new structure, applicable until September 30, 2028, charges for demographic, biometric, and other updates will see an increase. This is the first major revision in nearly five years, with the next fee adjustment scheduled from October 1, 2028, to September 30, 2031.<\/p>\n

Aadhaar generation remains free for residents under the revised rates. However, registrars will receive Rs 75 for enrolling children under five and Rs 125 for those above five. Mandatory biometric updates for children aged 5\u20137 and 15\u201317 continue to be free, while adults will pay Rs 125. Demographic updates, such as changes to name, address, or date of birth, now cost Rs 75, whether done online or at an enrolment centre. Updating Proof of Address (PoA) or Proof of Identity (PoI) documents also costs Rs 75, and Aadhaar reprints are priced at Rs 40.<\/p>\n

Why Did UIDAI Revise Aadhaar Update Charges?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The fee increase is reportedly aimed at covering administrative costs, maintaining secure biometric systems, and compensating registrars who manage enrolments and updates. Authorities also intend to encourage residents to use digital channels, such as the MyAadhaar portal, which reduces the workload at enrolment centres.<\/p>\n

How To Make Changes In Aadhaar<\/strong><\/p>\n

The MyAadhaar portal allows residents to update demographic information, including address, mobile number, and email. Proof of Address (PoA) and Proof of Identity (PoI) document updates can also be done online. However, changes to name, date of birth, or gender require a visit to an Aadhaar Seva Kendra.<\/p>\n

Biometric updates, such as fingerprints, iris scans, and photographs, must be completed in person at an enrolment centre. Children are required to update their biometrics at specific age milestones to ensure accuracy. For residents unable to visit enrolment centres, UIDAI offers home enrolment services, primarily for the elderly and people with disabilities. This service costs Rs 700 for the first resident and Rs 350 for each additional resident at the same address.<\/p>\n
