Shreyas Iyer is the captain of the India A team, and in the ongoing first unofficial ODI against Australia A at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur, he needed just 75 balls to complete his century. The cricketer from Mumbai came out to bat at No. 3 for the hosts after Priyansh Arya (101 runs from 84 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (56 runs from 53 balls) added 135 runs in 20.3 overs for the first wicket and crossed the 100-run mark in the 44th over of India\u2019s innings.<\/p>\n

Before getting out in the 47th over of India A\u2019s innings, Iyer faced a total of 83 balls and, with the help of 12 fours and 4 sixes, scored 110 runs.<\/p>\n

The right-handed batter added 40 runs for the second wicket with Priyansh, who also scored a century in his first match for India A, and 132 runs for the third wicket with Riyan Parag.<\/p>\n

Parag faced 42 balls as a No. 4 batter on Wednesday and slammed 5 fours and 5 sixes for India A.<\/p>\n

After Riyan\u2019s dismissal, Iyer and Ayush Badoni (50 runs from 27 balls) stitched 73 runs for the fourth wicket.<\/p>\n

The century by Iyer in the ongoing match helped India A post a total of 413\/6 in 50 overs.<\/p>\n

Iyer to be picked for ODI series against Australia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Iyer, who last represented Team India in March 2025 and played a big role in the Rohit Sharma-led side\u2019s Champions Trophy title win, in all likelihood will be picked for the three-match ODI series against the Australian team. The Indian team will travel to Australia for three ODIs and five T20Is later this month. The three one-day matches are scheduled to take place in Perth (October 19), Adelaide (October 23) and Sydney (October 25).<\/p>\n

But it will be interesting to see if the senior men\u2019s selection committee considers him for the five T20I matches. Iyer was ignored for the Asia Cup 2025, but since there are question marks over Hardik Pandya\u2019s availability, there is a place for at least one player in the middle order, and Iyer could be considered for that.<\/p>\n
