The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) believes that Asian Cricket Council (ACC) chairman Mohsin Naqvi has taken \u2018personal possession\u2019 of the Asia Cup 2025 trophy,\u00a0CNN-News18\u00a0<\/em>has learned. Sources say the trophy is not in the ACC headquarters in Dubai, and the BCCI, believing that the custody is illegal, is planning to raise the issue in Tuesday\u2019s pre-planned meeting with the Council\u2019s members.<\/p>\n

The meeting in Dubai is scheduled to begin at 2 pm local time (3:30 pm IST). It was originally supposed to see discussions on matters regarding the ACC\u2019s Annual General Meeting, which was adjourned in Dhaka in July.<\/p>\n

Sources say that if the meeting goes ahead as planned, BCCI\u2019s representatives will participate and formally ask for the trophy, which India won by beating Pakistan at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, to be delivered to the Indian board. If Naqvi doesn\u2019t respond favorably, the Indian side has further action planned.<\/p>\n

BCCI vice-president Rajiv Shukla or former treasurer Ashish Shelar will be the official representative. Shukla is the Executive Board Member for BCCI on the ACC Board, while Shelar serves as the BCCI\u2019s Ex-Officio Board Member on the Board.<\/p>\n

BCCI won\u2019t stop there either. The powerful board is also set to take up the issue at an International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting in November.<\/p>\n

After the thrilling last-over win over Pakistan in a contest that was extremely emotionally-charged due to the long, bloody history between the political rivals, India refused to accept their hard-earned Asia Cup trophy and medals from Naqvi. They insisted on Naqvi\u2019s notoriety for anti-India remarks and vile mocking of Indians.<\/p>\n

The ACC chief, also a Pakistani politician and the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, insisted only he could present the awards. Backed by the BCCI, India proposed taking the trophy from Emirates Cricket Board\u2019s Khalid Al Zarooni or Bangladesh Cricket Board\u2019s Aminul Islam, but Naqvi stood his ground.<\/p>\n

The standoff ended in unprecedented fashion: Naqvi walked off the stage with ACC officials, trophy in tow. The Indian players, refusing to be bogged down, celebrated with imaginary trophies and coffee cups, much to the joy of their fans.<\/p>\n
