Sensex Today: <\/strong> Benchmark Indian equity indices, Sensex and Nifty, opened higher as the three-day meeting of the Reserve Bank of India\u2019s (RBI) six-member Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) commenced today. According to a Business Standard poll, the MPC is widely expected to maintain the status quo and keep key interest rates unchanged. That said, the BSE Sensex opened 162.31 points higher at 80,588.77. Likewise, Nifty 50 rose 73.85 points to 24,728.55 levels.<\/p>\n

Global Cues<\/strong><\/p>\n

Globally, investors are watching the UK\u2019s money supply data, Euro Area\u2019s economic sentiment figures, and Japan\u2019s BoJ JGB purchase data. The Reserve Bank of Australia also commences its two-day policy meeting today.<\/p>\n

In Asia-Pacific trade, markets were mixed. Australia\u2019s S&P\/ASX 200 gained 0.43 per cent, South Korea\u2019s Kospi rose 1.05 per cent, while Japan\u2019s Nikkei 225 slipped 0.68 per cent.<\/p>\n
