Former leg-spinner Amit Mishra has criticised the Indian team for their poor fielding in the ongoing Asia Cup, warning that such errors could be costly in the final against Pakistan at the Dubai International Stadium on Sunday.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s fielding has been a concern, with players struggling to spot the ball under the lights in Dubai. This issue was highlighted when India dropped 12 catches leading into their last Super Four game against Sri Lanka. While captain Suryakumar Yadav dismissed it as \u201cpart of the game,” mystery spinner Varun Chakaravarthy admitted that the stadium lighting, known as \u201crings of fire,” was distracting.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou can\u2019t give excuses at this level. We should be taking these catches, but definitely, if you ask me about rings of fire, it comes in the eye, something. It is a little bit of disturbance,” Chakaravarthy explained.<\/p>\n

Mishra, however, wasn\u2019t satisfied with these explanations. He emphasised that at the international level, players must adapt quickly and ensure consistency in the field.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou should practice. What is the fielding coach doing? He should make them practice taking catches under the light. You are professional cricketers. You have to work hard and adjust to it. I agree that one or two dropped catches can happen in a match. But it has been happening consistently. I think Gautam Gambhir needs to focus on fielding,” Mishra told ANI.<\/p>\n

The 42-year-old further reminded the team that dropped chances are very costly in the shortest format.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn T20Is, dropping one catch can prove costly, and the Indian team is dropping three to four catches. They need to focus on fielding. There should be no margin of error in the final against Pakistan. Even if there is a problem, you should find a solution to it,” he added.<\/p>\n

Sunday\u2019s clash will be the third meeting between India and Pakistan in this tournament. Having convincingly beaten Pakistan twice already, India will be eager to continue their dominance, but Mishra\u2019s words highlight the need for sharper fielding to secure the title.<\/p>\n
