Ex-NCB officer Sameer Wankhede had filed a defamation suit against Aryan Khan\u2019s Netflix debut The Ba***ds Of Bollywood.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Former NCB officer Sameer Wankhede<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0who recently filed an FIR against Aryan Khan\u2019s The Ba***ds Of Bollywood for an alleged defamatory portrayal of himself, asserted that the truth should prevail, while refusing to comment further on the matter.<\/p>\n

His response came after the Delhi High Court dismissed his defamation plea against Aryan Khan\u2019s debut show on Netflix.\u00a0\u201cI won\u2019t comment on all this. I\u2019ll just say one thing: Satyamev Jayate (Truth alone triumphs),” he said when asked about his FIR against Aryan Khan\u2019s directorial debut.<\/p>\n

He refused to add further details on the matter, instead talking about the importance of creating awareness against drug consumption. \u201cIn our Mumbai area, the issues of drug consumption, and especially in Northern Mumbai or Eastern Mumbai, we need to create awareness among the public about what types of drugs exist,” he said, adding that he spoke to citizens in a camp organised for drug awareness.<\/p>\n

Delhi HC Rejects Wankhede\u2019s Plea<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Wankhede filed a defamation suit against Red Chillies Entertainment Pvt Ltd, the production house owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and his wife, Gauri Khan, at the Delhi High Court, citing a character on the series who seems to be parodying him in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. He has demanded damages of Rs 2 crore, which he said would be donated to cancer patients.<\/p>\n

Wankhede\u2019s defamation suit came in response to a character from the show \u2013 an officer who takes a hardline stance against drug users, but targets only those belonging to Bollywood. The IRS officer said the Netflix series contains false, malicious, and defamatory content aimed at damaging his reputation.<\/p>\n

\u2018Why File Suit In Delhi?\u2019: HC Questions Sameer Wankhede\u2019s Plea Against SRK, Red Chillies<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

However, the Delhi High Court raised questions over the maintainability of a defamation suit filed by Wankhede, asking why the suit was filed in Delhi instead of Mumbai. Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav directed Wankhede to amend his plea to address the maintainability issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cYour plaint is not maintainable here in Delhi. I am rejecting your plaint. Had your case been that you have been defamed at various places including at Delhi and the maximum damage has occurred in Delhi, we would have still considered the matter here in Delhi,” said Justice Kaurav.<\/p>\n

Notably, Wankhede was the main official responsible for Aryan Khan\u2019s arrest in 2021 in connection with the Cordelia cruise drug case. However, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) later accused Wankhede of attempting to extort Rs 25 crore from the Khan family in exchange for lenient treatment for Aryan. He has denied all allegations.<\/p>\n
