A total of eight teams will fight against each other to win the 2025 edition of the ICC Women\u2019s ODI World Cup, which is set to start on September 30 in Guwahati with a match between co-hosts India and Sri Lanka. Three teams \u2013 Australia (7 times), England (4 times) and New Zealand (1 time) \u2013 have won the women\u2019s 50-over mega-event so far, and this time, India, in front of home fans, would like to end their wait for their first-ever ICC title.<\/p>\n

Harmanpreet Kaur will lead India for the first time ever in the Women\u2019s ODI World Cup this year, and she would like to enter her name in the history books by lifting the World Cup trophy on November 2.<\/p>\n

Star left-handed opening batter Smriti Mandhana will be Harman\u2019s deputy, and the Indian squad also includes Jemimah Rodrigues, Pratika Rawal, Deepti Sharma, Richa Ghosh and Renuka Singh Thakur, among others.<\/p>\n

Wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy has been named as the captain of defending champions Australia for the Women\u2019s ODI World Cup 2025, and the Southern Stars will bank upon the experience of Ellyse Perry, Beth Mooney, Ash Gardner, Megan Schutt and Tahila McGrath, among others, to win the title for the record-extending eighth time.<\/p>\n

Legendary all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt, who plays for Mumbai Indians in the Women\u2019s Premier League (WPL), will also make her ODI World Cup debut as England captain this year. Former captain Heather Knight is also part of England\u2019s squad for the eight-team tournament, where they will open their campaign on October 3 against South Africa in Guwahati.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the South African team, which finished as runners-up in the 2024 T20 World Cup, will be led by top-order batter Laura Wolvaardt. Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Marizanne Kapp, Tazmin Brits and Sune Luus are key players in the squad.<\/p>\n

Fatima Sana has been named as Pakistan\u2019s captain, Chamari Athapaththu will lead Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh will play under the leadership of Nigar Sultana Joty. Their main aim will be to finish in the top four and qualify for the semifinals.<\/p>\n
