Former India cricketers Yograj Singh and Kapil Dev<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Former India cricketer Yograj Singh, father of the 2011 World Cup hero Yuvraj Singh and known for his outspoken comments, has called on legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev to take on the role of nurturing the next generation of Indian cricketers.<\/p>\n

In an open conversation with IANS, Yograj reminisced about his long-standing association with the 1983 World Cup-winning captain, describing Kapil as both a childhood friend and an exceptional player.<\/p>\n

\u201cKapil Dev was my childhood friend, and he was a truly great cricketer. Players like him are not born every day. He was fearless and brave. The way I know him, not even his own mother or family would know him, because we spent so much time together,” said Yograj.<\/p>\n

He acknowledged Kapil\u2019s deep and rare understanding of cricket. \u201cHow to bowl inside, how to bowl outside \u2013 he knows it all. I believe every cricketer, whether it\u2019s Kapil Dev or anyone else, should help produce at least one player, one fast bowler for India. That alone would be like planting a tree in their name,” he explained.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you give to the nation, to the world \u2013 even if you go hungry yourself but feed someone else \u2013 then God opens treasures for you.”<\/p>\n

Yograj extended his message, urging all Indian cricketers, past and present, to contribute to the future of Indian cricket.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt shouldn\u2019t just be Kapil Dev. Every cricketer should take this responsibility. If each of them helps produce even a single player for India, then, by God\u2019s grace, the country will have so many great cricketers that in the coming years, no team will be able to defeat India,” Yograj added.<\/p>\n

After Match-Fixing?<\/h2>\n

Yograj had earlier alleged that Kapil Dev was involved in \u2018match-fixing\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAsk all the journalists, where is the file of match-lying in the Supreme Court shut down. Who all were involved in match-fixing? First, Kapil Dev\u2019s name was involved, then Azharuddin\u2019s, and a lot of other players. Why was that file closed and not reopened? Because a lot of the heads of legends will roll,” Yograj was quoted as saying to InsideSport.<\/p>\n
