Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh tied the nuptial knot with Panjab University assistant professor Amreen Kaur at a private ceremony in Chandigarh on Monday.<\/p>\n

The Anand Karaj \u2013 wedding ceremony solemnised as per Sikh traditions \u2013 took place at a gurdwara in Chandigarh and was attended by Vikramaditya\u2019s close relatives and friends.<\/p>\n

Wearing a bright orange and pink turban and a pastel pink \u2018sherwani\u2019, Vikramaditya, the second-time MLA from Shimla Rural, carried a ceremonial sword while Amreen, who was accompanied at the wedding by her parents, was seen wearing an embroidered \u2018lehenga\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is the beginning of a new chapter in my life,” the 35-year-old Public Works Department minister told reporters after the wedding rituals.<\/p>\n

After the rituals, the couple headed to Shimla.<\/p>\n

Speaking briefly to reporters here after getting married, Vikramaditya expressed deep gratitude at the blessings received from everyone on the occasion.<\/p>\n

This is the second marriage of Vikramaditya Singh, who is the titular king of the erstwhile princely state of Bushahr in Shimla district.<\/p>\n

The son of six-time chief minister, late Virbhadra Singh, and Himachal Congress president Pratibha Singh,<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Shimla Rural MLA, who holds the Public Works Department portfolio in the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state Cabinet, was earlier married to a woman hailing from an erstwhile Rajasthan Royal family. They divorced last year after tying the knot in 2019.<\/p>\n

While Vikramaditya is the son of six-time chief minister Virbhadra Singh and Himachal Pradesh Congress president Pratibha Singh, Amreen\u2019s parents Sardar Jotinder Singh Sekhon and Opinder Kaur are residents of Sector 2 in\u00a0Chandigarh, Indian Express<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n

Who Is Vikramaditya Singh?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

An alumnus of Hansraj College,\u00a0Delhi University, Vikramaditya was active in student politics and later completed his Master\u2019s in History from St Stephen\u2019s College. He formally joined the Himachal Pradesh Congress in 2013 and later became President of the state Youth Congress.<\/p>\n

Vikramaditya entered electoral politics in 2017, winning his first Assembly election from Shimla Rural. Along with Virbhadra Singh, he created history that year by becoming the first father-son duo to take oath together as legislators in the state.<\/p>\n
