Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Mumbai International Cruise Terminal (MICT) on Saturday, a state-of-the-art facility built at a cost of Rs 556 crore at Indira Dock. Developed under the government\u2019s \u2018Cruise Bharat Mission\u2019, the terminal is aimed at making Mumbai a global hub for cruise tourism and marks a major addition to India\u2019s maritime infrastructure.<\/p>\n

According to the Prime Minister\u2019s Office, the Mumbai terminal is India\u2019s largest cruise facility and will significantly improve the travel experience for tourists.<\/p>\n

The terminal, spread across 415,000 square feet, has the capacity to handle one million passengers every year, with the ability to process between 10,000 and 15,000 travellers in a single day.<\/p>\n

Features of Mumbai International Cruise Terminal<\/strong><\/p>\n

The terminal can berth five cruise ships simultaneously and is equipped to handle vessels up to 300 meters in length with a draft of 11 meters. To streamline passenger movement, the facility has 72 check-in and immigration counters and a dedicated parking area that can accommodate more than 300 vehicles.<\/p>\n

Architecturally, the terminal features a wavy ceiling designed to reflect its maritime identity, while the interiors are minimalist and functional.<\/p>\n

The facility also incorporates a shore-to-ship electric power supply system, which helps reduce emissions from docked vessels, aligning with the government\u2019s focus on sustainable infrastructure.<\/p>\n

\u2018Samudra se Samriddhi\u2019 Event Today<\/strong><\/p>\n

PM Modi is also scheduled to inaugurate a host of projects in Gujarat during the \u2018Samudra se Samriddhi\u2019 event. The PMO has said that maritime sector projects worth more than Rs 7,800 crore will be launched, including new container facilities at Kolkata and Paradip ports and a green bio-methanol plant at Deendayal Port, all aimed at boosting trade and cargo movement.<\/p>\n

He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over Rs 34,200 crore in Bhavnagar.<\/p>\n

In line with his commitment to holistic and sustainable development, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple projects of the central and state government, worth over Rs 26,354 crore, catering to various sectors in Gujarat.<\/p>\n

He will inaugurate the HPLNG Regasification Terminal at Chhara Port, the Acrylics and Oxo Alcohol Project at the Gujarat IOCL Refinery, the 600 MW Green Shoe Initiative, the PM-KUSUM 475 MW Component C solar feeder for farmers, the 45 MW Badeli Solar PV Project, and the complete solarisation of Dhordo village, among others.<\/p>\n
