The Indian women\u2019s cricket team will wear pink jerseys on Saturday, September 20, in the three-match ODI series decider against Australia, in a bid to promote breast cancer awareness, in Delhi.<\/p>\n

In India, the most common cancers in women are breast, cervical and ovarian, with breast and cervical cancers accounting for 40% of cases.<\/p>\n

Cervical cancer is associated with infections like human papillomavirus, whereas breast and ovarian cancers are often driven by hormonal factors.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis pink jersey is a reminder of a bigger fight. This pink jersey is more than just a symbol. Every day we train for uncertainties and this pink jersey is a reminder for you to be prepared and the strength for this fight against breast cancer comes from early detection,” Harmanpreet, Pratika Rawal and Sneh Rana said while speaking on a BCCI video.<\/p>\n

The increase in hormone-related cancers is linked to lifestyle changes such as delayed pregnancies, shorter breastfeeding periods, obesity and sedentary habits.<\/p>\n

As per the World Health Organisation, in affluent nations, one in 12 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, but only one in 71 will die from it.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s third ODI against Australia<\/strong><\/p>\n

Buoyed by a record-breaking display, India will aim for their first-ever women\u2019s ODI series victory over Australia when the two teams meet in the decider in Delhi on Saturday, September 20.<\/p>\n

The hosts have never defeated the mighty world champions in a bilateral series and a victory over Australia in Delhi wouldn\u2019t only bag that long-awaited win but boost confidence and momentum ahead of the World Cup beginning September 30 as well.<\/p>\n

After being outplayed in the opener, Harmanpreet and her side roared back with a brilliant 102-run win, which was Australia\u2019s heaviest loss in terms of runs. It was India\u2019s first victory over the mighty Aussies in 12 games.<\/p>\n
