Jenny Han announces The Summer I Turned Pretty movie after Season 3 finale.<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Fans of The Summer I Turned Pretty will have to be patient as Jenny Han revealed that the highly anticipated movie adaptation is still in the works. The creator and co-showrunner appeared on the Today show alongside the cast following the Season 3 finale. <\/p>\n

Naturally, conversation shifted toward the upcoming film that will wrap up the story. When Savannah Guthrie asked if audiences would finally get to see Belly (Lola Tung) and Conrad (Christopher Briney) marry \u2014 just like in Han\u2019s books \u2014 the author gave a carefully worded reply.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can say that there is another big milestone for Belly, so we\u2019ll continue with that journey,” Han teased. Guthrie took the comment as a \u201cyes,” but the author remained non-committal, adding, \u201cIt\u2019s still a little too soon to say. But Sarah Kucserka, who\u2019s my co-showrunner, and I have finished a draft, so we\u2019re chugging along.”<\/p>\n

When co-host Craig Melvin pressed about a possible 2026 release, Han clarified, \u201cWe don\u2019t know when it\u2019s coming out, but not next year. We still have to make it.”<\/p>\n

Season 3 Finale Brings Closure and New Beginnings<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Prime Video series concluded its three-season arc on September 17, with the finale finally resolving Belly\u2019s love triangle with Conrad and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). In Paris, Belly reunited with Conrad after calling off her wedding to Jeremiah, leading to a heartfelt confession on a train. The season closed with Belly and Conrad returning to Cousins Beach together, while Jeremiah began a new romance with Denise (Isabella Briggs).<\/p>\n

For Briney, Conrad\u2019s ending aligned perfectly with the books. \u201cWhen I first found out that I got the job, I read all the books, and I was like, \u2018Alright. This is the arc, start to finish, of this character and these characters,\u2019” he shared, noting he only got confirmation shortly before filming the finale.<\/p>\n

Casalegno also opened up about handling criticism over Jeremiah\u2019s behaviour in Season 3. He credited \u201chealthy boundaries with social media” for helping him cope, joking that his sister gave him the harshest feedback by swapping his family group chat photo to Willy Wonka.<\/p>\n

With a completed draft in hand but no set release date, fans will have to wait longer to see how Belly\u2019s journey wraps up on screen.<\/p>\n
