Meta\u2019s Ray Ban smart glasses have been upgraded with a built-in display and support for hand gestures. The new product was unveiled at the Meta Connect developer conference on Thursday morning, showing the company\u2019s evolved focus in the wearable segment and taking its popular product to a new dynamic. <\/span><\/p>\n

Smart glasses with built in displays are not new and Google showed it much earlier than anyone. Meta has invested heavily in the ecosystem and its early success has pushed the brand to make new products with more advanced use cases.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meta Ray Ban Display Glasses: What\u2019s The Price?<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meta Ray Ban Display glasses are priced at $799 (Rs 70,000 approx) and these will be available in the US from September 30 with other regions likely to get it in the near future.\u00a0 Both the glasses and wristband are part of the package.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meta Ray Ban Glasses: WhatsApp Chat, Make Calls And More<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Having a built-in display means the new Ray Ban glasses are more than just going to help you listen to music or activate Meta AI assistant. You can now read WhatsApp chats, or even make calls without taking out the phone all the time. This is the true use case for the smart glasses, and Google\u2019s Sergey Brin envisaged it more than 10 years ago.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meta\u2019s Mark Zuckerberg tried to show off some of these features but the demo didn\u2019t go according to plan.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the big difference between Meta and Google Glass is the Meta Neural band that picks up EMG signals and lets you control the Display glasses with gesture support. You can flick the fingers and move across apps, or scroll through the WhatsApp interface to check your messages and more.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meta says this feature enables better accessibility for people who have suffered major injuries. The band is durable, lightweight and claimed to last for around 18 hours, so just what you needed, another device to charge. This works like how a controller is needed to use the Meta Quest headset.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meta claims these Display glasses can go beyond reading chats, you can get live captions, live translations and much more, all powered by its AI model. The glasses come in different lenses for both indoor and outdoor use, and up to 30 hours of battery life promised, with the bundled charging case. The company seeks people to try out the device and get an in-person demo for the product, especially if they want them for number lenses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The company has also unveiled its new Ray Ban Meta Gen 2 smart glasses that are now priced at $379 which gets 2x the battery life of its earlier version, claimed to last for 8 hours and a new camera to capture videos in 3K UHD quality.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
