Sensex Today: <\/strong>The Indian equity benchmarks ended higher on Wednesday, supported by optimism over a possible early India-US trade deal.<\/p>\n

The BSE Sensex gained 313.02 points, or 0.38%, to close at 82,693.71, while the NSE Nifty50 advanced 91.15 points, or 0.36%, to settle at 25,330.25.<\/p>\n

In the broader market, the BSE MidCap index edged up 0.08%, and the SmallCap index rose 0.68%.<\/p>\n

Ajit Mishra, SVP, Research, Religare Broking Ltd, \u201cMarkets edged higher in a subdued session on Wednesday, reflecting a positive yet cautious undertone. After a firm start, the Nifty index traded in a narrow range throughout the day before settling at 25,330.25 level. Sectoral performance was mixed, with IT, banking, and auto emerging as the top gainers, while metals, FMCG, and pharma witnessed profit-taking. Meanwhile, the broader indices maintained their positive bias, with both midcap and small-cap indices closing in the green.”<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the range-bound move, underlying sentiment remains supported by optimism around policy reforms and robust domestic flows. However, persistent FII selling and caution ahead of the US Fed policy outcome capped the momentum. On the index front, the Nifty is now inching towards the 25,500 mark, aided by renewed strength in banking and rotational buying across sectors. We recommend continuing with a \u201cbuy on dips” approach, with support placed around the 25,050\u201325,150 zone, while keeping position sizes moderate given the likelihood of higher volatility due to global events,” said Mishra.<\/p>\n

Global markets<\/strong><\/p>\n

Across Asia-Pacific, markets were trading lower on Wednesday, mirroring overnight weakness on Wall Street as investors awaited the Fed\u2019s policy outcome. Japan\u2019s Nikkei was flat, while the Topix slipped 0.53 per cent. South Korea\u2019s Kospi and Australia\u2019s ASX 200 were down 0.94 per cent and 0.63 per cent, respectively.<\/p>\n

In the US, the S&P 500 shed 0.13 per cent to close at 6,606.76 after briefly hitting a new record high. The Nasdaq Composite eased 0.07 per cent to 22,333.96, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 125.55 points, or 0.27 per cent, to 45,757.90.<\/p>\n
