Health experts warn that overconsumption of oil damages vital organs and increases the risk of serious diseases.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1\" class=\"story_para_1\">Dietician Dr Jyoti Singh from the Medical College, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, spoke to Local18 about the dangers of eating too much oil and shared simple ways to maintain balance.<\/p>\n<p id=\"2\" class=\"story_para_2\">According to Dr Singh, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) recommends a daily intake of no more than 15 grams, roughly three teaspoons, of oil. \u201cOne gram of oil provides nine kilocalories, which is far more calories than most people require in a day,&#8221; she explained.<\/p>\n<p id=\"3\" class=\"story_para_3\">She further added that excessive consumption leads to conditions like fatty liver, weight gain, and digestive problems. \u201cTaking oil in moderation is far more beneficial for health,&#8221; Dr Singh said, stressing that balance is the key.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4\" class=\"story_para_4\">Highlighting the dangers of trans fats and hydrogenated oils, Dr Singh noted that these harm the intestines and liver. \u201cPeople who consume bhujia, namkeen or fast food may gain one to one-and-a-half kilos in a single day, simply because of the high levels of trans fat,&#8221; she warned.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5\" class=\"story_para_5\">For healthier options, Dr Singh suggested using mustard oil, castor oil, ghee, coconut oil, or peanut oil.
