Sunil Gavaskar had a couple of special gifts for Shubman Gill during the Oval Test.<\/h2>\n

As India ended the third day of the Oval Test against England on a high, the legendary former captain Sunil Gavaskar presented a special, wholesome bag of gifts to the incumbent, Shubman Gill. Gavaskar brought him one of his shirts with the SG initials \u2014 the same for both players \u2014 and a rare signed cap.<\/p>\n

Gill top-scored for India in the series with 754 runs in 10 innings. He fell short by 20 runs of Gavaskar\u2019s record for most runs in a Test series by an Indian, in place since 1970-71, when the Little Master smashed 774 runs at an average of 154.80 on a historic tour of the West Indies. Gavaskar told Gill that though he couldn\u2019t break his record in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, it\u2019s \u2018something to aim for\u2019 in the next one.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell done, I had got a gift for you in anticipation of going past [me],” Gavaskar said, in a\u00a0Sony Sports\u00a0<\/em>video that\u2019s now going viral on social media. \u201cBut, at least you got something to aim for in the next series. This is just a little gift, it\u2019s a shirt with \u2018SG\u2019 initials. Mere liye kisi ne banaya tha, par mai aapko de raha hu. Aapko fit hoga ya nahi maloom nahi. (<\/em>Someone made it for me, but I am giving it to you. I don\u2019t know if it will fit you.) This is a little cap, which I give to very few people, with my signature.”<\/p>\n

As Gill stood like a student being honored by a teacher, Gavaskar praised him for his tactics in the day\u2019s final over and promised to bring a lucky charm for the team for the fourth (and likely final) day of the Test.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe last move was fantastic. Sending a fielder there (deep) and bowling a yorker,” Gavaskar added. \u201cI am going to wear my lucky jacket. I wore it in Australia, in the Gabba one, last day, I got it only for that. I am going to wear that white jacket. All the best, God bless.”<\/p>\n

With Zak Crawley\u2019s wicket in the final over, England went to Stumps at 50\/1, with India needing nine wickets against 324 runs to win.<\/p>\n
