Monday\u2019s double-header in the Asia Cup 2025 made the scenarios for the Super Four stage a lot clearer. Group A\u2019s UAE beat Oman by 42 runs in the afternoon game at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, before Group B\u2019s Sri Lanka just about brushed past Hong Kong at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.<\/p>\n

UAE\u2019s win meant two things for Super Four: India became the first team to secure qualification for Super Four, while Oman became the first team to be eliminated from the race.<\/p>\n

India\u2019s emphatic seven-wicket win over Pakistan on Sunday took them to four points, securing their place in the next stage. UAE\u2019s victory kept their campaign alive, putting them level with Pakistan on two points, while Oman remain without a win after two outings.<\/p>\n

Group A is now set for a tense finish with two fixtures left. UAE and Pakistan will lock horns on Wednesday, September 7, in a must-win encounter \u2014 the winner will progress to the Super Four with four points. India will then meet Oman on Friday in a clash that holds no bearing on qualification.<\/p>\n

With India already assured of a top-two finish, the only battle left is for the second spot. Oman\u2019s loss to the UAE sealed their fate, leaving them with no path to four points and ending their chances of qualification. Even a no-result between Pakistan and UAE would take both sides beyond Oman\u2019s reach, confirming their last-place finish.<\/p>\n

In the second match, Sri Lanka ended Hong Kong\u2019s tournament on a disappointing note with a narrow four-wicket win. The Chinese side became the second to be eliminated from the tournament after Oman. They would have held a slender chance of qualifying had they won the game, but it was their last appearance in the group stage, which they ended with zero points in three matches.<\/p>\n

The remaining three, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, are still equally in the race.<\/p>\n

There are only two matches left in the group: Afghanistan vs Bangladesh on September 16 and Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka on September 18.<\/p>\n

If Afghanistan beat Bangladesh, they\u2019ll ensure qualification not just for themselves but also for Sri Lanka. It\u2019ll mean that the Tigers can not go past two points, and Afghanistan and Sri Lanka will have four each.<\/p>\n

If Bangladesh beat Afghanistan, then both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka will have four points each, and Afghanistan will have one game left and two points.<\/p>\n

In that case, if Sri Lanka beat Afghanistan, they\u2019ll ensure qualification for them and Bangladesh. Conversely, if Sri Lanka lose, then all three teams will end on four points and the top two will be decided on net run-rate.<\/p>\n

Hong Kong, China: <\/strong>Can no longer qualify.<\/p>\n

Sri Lanka:\u00a0<\/strong>Hope Afghanistan beat Bangladesh on September 16. If not, then Sri Lanka will need to either beat Afghanistan on September 18 or hope that their NRR remains in the top two even if the Afghans win.<\/p>\n
