India Pakistan Handshake Row: <\/strong>The Salman Ali Agha-led Pakistan team has filed a complaint with the Asian Cricket Council, expressing their displeasure at Indian players walking off the field of play without the customary handshakes after their league stage encounter at the Asia Cup in Dubai on Sunday, September 14.<\/p>\n

India beat arch-rivals Pakistan by seven wickets. After skipper Suryakumar Yadav<\/a> hit the winning runs, he and Shivam Dube didn\u2019t approach the Pakistan cricketers and walked off the field without shaking hands with their opponents.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued late Sunday night, the Pakistan Cricket Board condemned India\u2019s actions after the seven-wicket defeat, calling them \u201cunsporting.”<\/p>\n

\u201cTeam manager Naveed Cheema lodged a strong protest against the Indian players\u2019 behaviour of not shaking hands. It was deemed as unsporting and against the spirit of the game,” a PCB statement said.<\/p>\n

The sequence of events could unfold again, as both teams have the potential to face each other two more times before the tournament ends.<\/p>\n

Suryakumar, for his part, explained that the decision not to shake hands with the opposition was a gesture of solidarity with the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack\u00a0in\u00a0April.<\/p>\n

The arch-rivals faced each other on a cricket ground for the first time since the attack in Kashmir and the ensuing \u2018Operation Sindoor\u2019 by India on terror infrastructure across the\u00a0border\u00a0in\u00a0May.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe took a team call. We had come only to play. We had given them a reply. Some things are beyond sportsmanship. We dedicate this victory to our armed forces who took part in \u2018Operation Sindoor\u2019 and stand with families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack,” Suryakumar said while speaking at the post-match press conference.<\/p>\n

It turned out to be a no-contest with India outplaying Pakistan in all departments.<\/p>\n

Even at the toss, Suryakumar didn\u2019t interact or shake hands with Salman.<\/p>\n
