TR Filing 2025 Due Date Extension: As the Income Tax Return (ITR) filing deadline approaches, several social media users have urged the government to extend the due date, citing frequent glitches and difficulties in accessing the official Income Tax Department portal.<\/p>\n

Several X users including CAs shared screenshots showing glitches and technical problems while using ITR portal and requested the tax department to extend the deadline beyond September 15, 2025.<\/p>\n

The Income Tax Department has clarified that the due date for filing income tax return (ITR) for FY2024-25 (Assessment year 2025-26) will not be further extended from today, September 15, 2025. The tax department debunked a fake news suggesting that the due date of filing ITRs has been further extended to September 30, 2025.<\/p>\n

The department also urged taxpayers to rely only on the official Income Tax of India X handle.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo assist taxpayers for ITR filing, tax payment and other related services, our helpdesk is functioning on a 24\u00d77 basis, and we are providing support through calls, live chats, WebEx sessions & Twitter\/X,” it added.<\/p>\n

The income tax return (ITR) filing deadline for the financial year 2024-25 (Assessment year 2025-26) is today, September 15. The non-audit taxpayers must file their ITRs to avoid any penalty. The income tax department has extended the deadline for the ITR filing for FY2024-25 (Assessment Year 2025-26) for 45 days to September 15, 2025, from July 30, 2025.<\/p>\n

The CBDT had ascribed the extension to the extensive changes implemented in the notified ITRs, citing the time needed for system readiness and the rollout of Income Tax Return (ITR) utilities for Assessment Year (AY) 2025\u201326.<\/p>\n

CAs Urge For Extension On X<\/h3>\n

CA Anurag Sharma wrote on X that none will ask for an extension if they issue forms timely and let the website work smoothly. \u201cWorking on income tax portal is a torture in itself,” he added.<\/p>\n

Another user requested an extension of the income tax filing due date as the government portal has been facing persistent technical issues. He added that taxpayers are unable to file returns despite repeated attempts.<\/p>\n
