This enables the fund to take long positions (buying stocks it expects to rise) and short positions (betting against those it expects to fall). Such strategies help manage downside risk and potentially generate better risk-adjusted returns \u2014 especially in volatile markets.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5\" class=\"story_para_5\">The fund is expected to launch in August 2025, marking a new chapter in India\u2019s asset management space.<\/p>\n<p id=\"6\" class=\"story_para_6\"><strong>What Is a Specialised Investment Fund (SIF)?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"7\" class=\"story_para_7\">A Specialised Investment Fund (SIF) is a new mutual fund category introduced by Sebi that allows asset management companies to offer more sophisticated and flexible investment strategies. These include:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"listOncontentArticleUL\">\n<li>Long-short strategies<\/li>\n<li>Leveraged and derivative-based strategies<\/li>\n<li>Flexible structures like open-ended, close-ended, or interval funds<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p id=\"9\" class=\"story_para_9\">SIFs are aimed at high-net-worth and informed investors who can take on higher risks in exchange for potentially better returns. The minimum investment requirement is Rs 10 lakh per investor.<\/p>\n<p id=\"10\" class=\"story_para_10\">This framework is designed to broaden the scope of India\u2019s mutual fund industry by facilitating the launch of funds with dynamic strategies not typically permitted in traditional schemes.<\/p>\n<p id=\"11\" class=\"story_para_11\"><strong>Sebi\u2019s Rules for SIF Investors<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"12\" class=\"story_para_12\">To ensure compliance, Sebi has laid out clear guidelines for minimum investment thresholds in SIFs.
