Microsoft Teams call will soon get protection against scammers<\/p>\n<\/figure>\n

Microsoft Teams is not the most popular tool for video meetings but most offices prescribe using it for their businesses. And now the company is giving them more reasons to consider using the platform, helping them avoid dangerous hacking attempts.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Teams will now have the power to alert users when they might be getting messages or calls with malicious files or intent. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is like the spam alert that Gmail users get for their mails, or even their SMS messages on the mobile app. In fact, Microsoft\u2019s own Outlook mail client has a similar banner added at the top when you receive mails from external links.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Microsoft Teams Scam Alert: How It Will Work<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Microsoft says Teams users will be getting the new feature via a public preview version this month and the full release is planned for November 2025. The company will add a banner for any message that it deems unsafe, similar to the Outlook alert.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c”This new feature displays a warning banner on messages containing URLs flagged as Spam, Phish, or Malware\u2014whether the message is internal or external. These warnings enhance user awareness and complement existing security protections like Safe Links and ZAP,” the company explains the process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Platforms like Teams, Zoom and even Google Meet have become a serious hub for these attacks. And as we always say, people need to be careful about opening links or downloading files that come to them via unknown sources. Microsoft is doing its bit for Teams users while Google has been gradually making changes to secure its users.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Its needs are more vital because Teams is deployed by IT admins in companies who have a big channel of devices linked to the same platform. Having even one of them use the alert tool allows the system to react and inform everyone else. It is surprising to see Microsoft take this long to even have this feature available on Teams but we are pleased that it will be available soon. <\/span><\/p>\n
