Shubman Gill is the future of Indian cricket and someone who is in there for the long haul which means he\u2019s getting some privileges like preference over proven T20 performers that include Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal, feels cricketer-turned-commentator Ajay Jadeja.<\/p>\n

Gill\u2019s stock is on the rise ever since he was appointed India Test captain ahead of the England tour earlier his year. He amassed over 700 runs during the five-Test series which ended 2-2.<\/p>\n

And in a sign of things to come, the 26-year-old was made the vice-captain of India\u2019s T20I team for the ongoing Asia Cup despite not playing the format at international level for nearly a year.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone has put their hopes on him (Gill). There is something special about him and there\u2019s no doubt about it. And if he\u2019s been brought in instead of someone like Jaiswal or Sanju Samson who has scored three centuries in a row in this format, then you can imagine how privileged he is and the Chosen One,” Jadeja said on Sony Sports<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone hopes he is probably someone there for the long haul. He\u2019s consistent, and it is not only in the game. You are seeing it in him as a human being too. He\u2019s being looked as future captain of India and so he\u2019s getting all these advantages. But there is no pressure of the advantages. I would say the pressure of a privilege would be there. He is not under pressure to keep his place,” he added.<\/p>\n

Gill made his T20I return in India\u2019s opening match of the Asia Cup against UAE that they won comfortably by nine wickets. India chased down a paltry target of 58 in just 4.3 overs with Gill belting an unbeaten 20 off 9 deliveries.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrom what we saw in the short innings (vs UAE), he has repaid the faith. And if it seems that India are going to play eight batters, then your consistency won\u2019t matter. I think as we move forward, I feel that his strike rate will keep getting better and the consistency that we have seen till now will probably come down a bit,” Jadeja said.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
