India\u2019s unemployment rate stands at just 2%, the lowest among G20 nations, according to the World Economic Forum\u2019s Future of Jobs Report 2025, said Union Labour and Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday. He credited rapid economic growth and government-backed employment schemes for driving job creation across sectors.<\/p>\n

Mandaviya was speaking at an event in the capital to mark the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between the Ministry of Labour & Employment and two organisations \u2014 Mentor Together and Quikr. The partnerships aim to expand job access and career guidance for young jobseekers through the National Career Service (NCS) portal.<\/p>\n

The NCS portal currently hosts over 52 lakh registered employers, 5.79 crore job seekers, and has mobilised more than 7.22 crore vacancies since its launch. Currently, there are over 44 lakh active vacancies on the platform. Over the past year, the Labour Ministry has also tied up with companies including Amazon and Swiggy, which together have created close to five lakh vacancies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe NCS platform is evolving into a one-stop solution for all employment-related services,” Mandaviya said. \u201cIt will ensure that the future of this country, and of its youth, is bright.”<\/p>\n

The minister also highlighted the government\u2019s flagship Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), launched in August with an allocation of Rs 99,446 crore. The scheme aims to create over 3.5 crore jobs in two years, including 1.92 crore opportunities for first-time entrants to the workforce.<\/p>\n

Minister of State for Labour & Employment Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, who was also present, described NCS as India\u2019s leading digital employment platform, offering job matching, counselling, and skilling. \u201cThis partnership will not only facilitate our young people in securing employment, but also make the right kind of handholding available to them,” she said.<\/p>\n

Under the new MoU, Mentor Together is expected to reach two lakh youth in its first year \u2014 half from NCS and half from PM-VBRY \u2014 with personalised career guidance delivered through over 24,000 trained professionals. The renewed collaboration with Quikr will bring over 1,200 daily job listings across more than 1,200 cities directly onto the NCS portal, strengthening access to employment, especially in rural and underserved areas.<\/p>\n

Officials said the new partnerships would bolster the government\u2019s strategy of creating a digital, inclusive, and dignified employment ecosystem.<\/p>\n
