Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday announced that planned dinner meetings of NDA MPs with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP National President JP Nadda have been cancelled in the wake of severe floods in north India.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are passing through a very sensitive time when millions of people are suffering due to floods in Punjab and several other northern states. In such a situation, we cannot organise dinner parties. Therefore, the dinner to be hosted by our respected Prime Minister for NDA MPs has been cancelled. Likewise, the one planned by JP Nadda for BJP MPs has also been called off,” Kiren Rijiju said.<\/p>\n

He said the decision was taken to express solidarity with flood victims. \u201cAt a time of such severe flooding, it is not right to hold grand dinners,” the Parliamentary Affairs minister said.<\/p>\n

However, the BJP\u2019s two-day workshop for MPs in Delhi continues as scheduled, with Prime Minister Modi attending from start to finish.<\/p>\n

Rijiju noted the informal nature of the workshop, where \u201ceven the Prime Minister often sits in the back row,” highlighting the BJP\u2019s culture of equality between leaders and workers.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is the BJP\u2019s culture \u2014 whether a leader or a common worker, all are the same. There is no formal seating arrangement, and the Prime Minister himself often sits in the back row. Our programme is more about guidance than formality,” he added.<\/p>\n

Further, Rijiju confirmed the participation of NDA allies at the workshop on Monday.<\/p>\n

\u201cTomorrow all NDA MPs will also be present. And of course, the Prime Minister will guide us. Ultimately, we move forward after listening to him,” he said.<\/p>\n

PM Modi, who was seen seated in the last row during Sunday\u2019s session, addressed all BJP parliamentarians and emphasized the importance of staying connected with the public. He urged MPs to hold monthly tiffin meetings in each Assembly segment of their constituencies to better understand local issues.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister also advised leaders to engage with ministers and officials before and after Parliamentary committee meetings to stay well-informed. He emphasized proper conduct by ministers towards officials and cited Singapore as a model for cleanliness, encouraging innovative thinking.<\/p>\n

The event also includes a mock poll to train MPs on the voting process ahead of the Vice-Presidential election on September 9.<\/p>\n

The BJP-led NDA has ramped up preparations for the high-stakes election, ensuring MPs from both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are fully briefed on the procedures.<\/p>\n
