The Board of Control for Cricket in India has become richer over the past six years, with its revenue rising to record highs, having added a whopping Rs 14627 crore to its coffers since 2019. According to a report, circulated among the state associations, BCCI had a bank balance of Rs 20686 crore a year back.<\/p>\n

That figure might have increased further over the past year, with the updated financial assessment all set to be presented at the AGM on Sunday, September 28.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, it has come to light that BCCI continues to pay income tax running into thousands of crores as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cHonorary Secretary apprised the members that since 2019, the cash and bank balance of BCCI has increased from INR 6,059 crore, which was before disbursing any amount to the state cricket associations, to INR 20,686 crore, which is after disbursing all amounts owed to the state cricket associations,” a part of the statement of accounts submitted at last year\u2019s AGM read.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, since 2019, BCCI has added INR 14,627 crore in the last five years. This is an increase of INR 4,193 crore since the last financial year. Further, since 2019, the general fund too has increased from INR 3,906 crore to INR 7,988 crore, which is an increase of INR 4,082 crore,” the statement added.<\/p>\n

The report dispels the notion that BCCI avoids income tax as well, noting that the board has set aside over \u20b93,000 crore for taxes even as it pursues appeals in several tribunals.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe BCCI has provisioned INR 3,150 crore towards income tax obligations for FY 2023-24. While BCCI is on the right track before the courts and tribunals, it has still made provisions towards paying any obligations that may arise towards tax,” the report says.<\/p>\n

BCCI\u2019s revenues could have been higher, but gross media rights income from international games dropped to \u20b9813.14 crore, down from \u20b92,524.8 crore the previous year.<\/p>\n
