Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday came down heavily on the opposition for objecting to the name and timing of \u2018Operation Mahadev\u2019, which eliminated three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists including one who was the alleged mastermind of the Pahalgam terror attack.<\/p>\n

The military operation<\/a><\/strong>, in which high-value target Hashim Musa alias Suleman was killed, in Jammu and Kashmir\u2019s Dachigam near Srinagar took place on July 28 (Monday). This was also the first scheduled day for the debate on \u2018Operation Sindoor\u2019 during the ongoing monsoon session in Parliament.<\/p>\n

Shah accused the Congress of prioritising vote bank and appeasement politics over national security. He claimed that \u2018Operation Sindoor\u2019, combined with \u2018Operation Mahadev\u2019<\/strong><\/a>, was the \u201csternest response given to terrorism in the world”.<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2026Yesterday, you (Congress) were asking why they (Pahalgam terrorists) were killed on this day? Why should they not have been killed yesterday? Because Rahul Gandhi was supposed to deliver his speech? It doesn\u2019t work like this. The entire country is seeing that the Congress\u2019s priority is not national security and ending terrorism but it is politics, their vote bank and appeasement politics\u2026” Shah said during the debate on \u2018Operation Sindoor\u2019 in the Rajya Sabha.<\/p>\n

Recounting the day of the Pahalgam terror attack, Shah referred to the wife of the naval officer who was killed merely after six days of marriage. \u201cPeople wanted terrorists behind Pahalgam to be shot in head; incidentally, all three terrorists were hit in the head by the forces,” he said.<\/p>\n

On the name of the military operation, he said \u2018Har Har Mahadev\u2019 is not only a religious mantra as even Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his army used it.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a symbol of India\u2019s strength and capability. They (opposition) see everything through a Hindu-Muslim angle. See the clarion calls used everywhere in the army. They come from the heart of those in the armed forces and are not given by the BJP,” he said.<\/p>\n

Shah further taunted the opposition on why it wants to \u201csave terrorists”. \u201cBut see what Mahadev (another name for Hindu deity Shiva) does. The day we were questioned (debate in the Lok Sabha), the terrorists were eliminated\u2026some questioned why they were killed today, I wanted to kill them that very second. You are asking for the muhurat<\/em>?” he asked.<\/p>\n

He gave details on how the forces zeroed in on the three terrorists and said their identity clearly established Lashkar-e-Taiba\u2019s hand in the Pahalgam attack.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did a forensic analysis to determine that rifles recovered from the terrorists were the same they used in Pahalgam. There\u2019s no debate now about this, no doubt at all. 155 people were interviewed, their photos were made and processed and those who sheltered the terrorists, we also investigated them. We got a tip that terrorists were located in the area. Around July 22, we had the exact location and after that in a meeting with 4 Para, CRPF and J&K Police, all were killed,” he added.<\/p>\n
