Yet beneath the surface, your heart may already be changing in ways you can\u2019t feel. Doctors warn that this is the decade when the groundwork for heart disease begins, silently and steadily.<\/p>\n<p id=\"1\" class=\"story_para_1\">\u201cIn your 30s, you may look and feel healthy, but subtle changes in the heart and blood vessels are already underway,&#8221; says Dr. Ameya Udyavar, Consultant, Cardiologist and Cardiac Electrophysiologist, P. D. Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Mahim.<\/p>\n<p id=\"2\" class=\"story_para_2\"><strong>The Slow Build-Up Inside Your Arteries<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"3\" class=\"story_para_3\">The first quiet shift is cholesterol build-up. \u201cAtherosclerosis \u2013 the deposition of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news18.com\/lifestyle\/health-and-fitness\/7-lifestyle-changes-you-should-make-for-a-healthier-heart-9220050.html\">cholesterol<\/a> in the arteries, actually begins in the late teens and continues into the 30s,&#8221; explains Dr. Udyavar. Sedentary lifestyles, irregular sleep, stress, alcohol, poor diets, and lack of exercise speed this up. Over time, arteries lose elasticity and start to stiffen, setting the stage for problems decades later.<\/p>\n<p id=\"4\" class=\"story_para_4\">\u201cIn the West, heart disease shows up in the 60s and 70s. Among Indians, it\u2019s a decade earlier, in the 50s. Unhealthy choices in your 30s can make it appear even sooner,&#8221; he warns.<\/p>\n<p id=\"5\" class=\"story_para_5\"><strong>The Role of Belly Fat, Stress, and Sleep<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"6\" class=\"story_para_6\">Weight gain in your 30s isn\u2019t just about vanity. Dr. Priya Palimkar, Senior Consultant \u2013 Cardiology, Sahyadri Super Speciality Hospital, Pune, points out: \u201cThat stubborn belly fat is actually visceral fat, which surrounds organs and releases chemicals that raise blood pressure, disturb sugar balance, and add strain on the heart.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p id=\"7\" class=\"story_para_7\">Stress is another silent culprit. Daily deadlines, EMIs, or parenting pressures flood the body with stress hormones. \u201cShort bursts of stress are fine, but chronic stress keeps the heart in overdrive, raises blood pressure, and disturbs sugar control,&#8221; says Dr. Palimkar.<\/p>\n<p id=\"8\" class=\"story_para_8\">Sleep, or the lack of it, adds to the mix. \u201cGood sleep allows the heart to reset. Without it, blood pressure rises, appetite hormones get disturbed, and irregular rhythms can appear,&#8221; she adds.<\/p>\n<p id=\"9\" class=\"story_para_9\"><strong>The Decade of Prevention<\/strong><\/p>\n<p id=\"10\" class=\"story_para_10\">The good news? Your 30s are also the decade of opportunity. \u201cSimple steps like eating heart-healthy meals, exercising regularly, maintaining a healthy weight, and checking blood sugar and cholesterol can dramatically delay heart disease,&#8221; says Dr. Udyavar.<\/p>\n<p id=\"11\" class=\"story_para_11\">Dr. Palimkar agrees: \u201cRegular check-ups act like an early warning system.
