Nature\u2019s fury has once again wreaked havoc across northern India. From Himachal Pradesh to Punjab and from Jammu & Kashmir to Uttarakhand, heavy rains have triggered massive floods and landslides, leaving thousands of families displaced and villages submerged. The destruction has brought back memories of past calamities, with Punjab in particular facing its most severe deluge since 1988.<\/p>\n

The situation has worsened due to the swelling of the Sutlej, Beas and Ravi rivers, along with seasonal rivulets that overflowed after incessant rains in their catchment areas in Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. The worst-hit districts in Punjab include Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Fazilka, Kapurthala, Tarn Taran, Ferozepur, Hoshiarpur and Amritsar. Continuous rainfall has intensified the flooding, making life extremely challenging for local residents.<\/p>\n
