Kolkata Assembly ruckus:<\/strong> High-voltage drama unfolded inside the West Bengal Assembly on Thursday as heated exchanges between the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislators during a special discussion on a government resolution over \u201catrocities” against Bengali migrants descended into chaos.<\/p>\n

During the proceedings, the MLAs from both parties clashed with each other after the BJP MLAs began raising slogans as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was about to speak on the resolution.<\/p>\n

Sankar Ghosh Falls Ill, Ambulance Called<\/h3>\n

During this altercation, BJP\u2019s chief whip in the state assembly, Sankar Ghosh, was allegedly injured and was subsequently suspended from the session for the rest of the day for creating the ruckus.<\/p>\n

When Sankar Ghosh refused to leave, assembly marshals were called in, and he was dragged out of the House. After the chaos, Ghosh reportedly fell ill, and his health condition deteriorated. He had to be assisted by fellow legislators and was later given medical attention.<\/p>\n

Subsequently, an ambulance was called at the State Assembly, and Ghosh was rushed to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Later, BJP President JP Nadda called Suvendhu Adhikary to enquire about the health condition of Sankar Ghosh and others injured during the altercation.<\/p>\n

What Triggered The Chaos?<\/h3>\n

The Mamata Banerjee government had called a special session of the West Bengal Assembly to discuss a government resolution over \u201catrocities” against Bengali migrants in parts of the country.<\/p>\n

During the question hour of the session, the BJP boycotted the proceedings. As Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee prepared to speak, BJP legislators erupted in slogans demanding answers over the suspension of Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari on 2 September.<\/p>\n

The protest escalated, with treasury bench members responding vociferously, leading to a fierce exchange between the two sides.<\/p>\n

Speaker Biman Banerjee intervened and suspended Sankar Ghosh for the rest of the day for creating a ruckus.<\/p>\n

However, he refused to leave, prompting marshals to forcefully remove him. During the altercation, his condition reportedly worsened, necessitating an ambulance to be brought into the Assembly premises. He later received medical attention on-site.<\/p>\n

Later, BJP MLA Agnimitra Paul, who was shouting slogans, was also suspended, with the Speaker ordering women marshals to take her out. BJP\u2019s Mihir Goswami, Ashok Dinda and Bankim Ghosh were also suspended.<\/p>\n

BJP Reacts To Suspension, Altercation<\/h3>\n

The Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, hit out at CM Mamata Banerjee, calling the marshals at the Assembly \u201cTMC goons.”<\/p>\n

He said that these marshals and security personnel all are are \u2018TMC Gundas\u2019. \u201cHe (Sankar Ghosh) is physically attacked and brutally assaulted. He is injured. The distraction by Speaker Biman Banerjee and instigation by \u2018thief\u2019 Mamata Banerjee led to this. They chant the slogan \u2018Modi Chor\u2019, but we are saying that \u2018Chaakri Chor, Gaddi Chor\u2019,” Adhikari said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe \u2018incompetent\u2019 spy sitting in the chair \u274c is, on the orders of the \u2018follower\u2019 owner, using force to throw out one after another of the Bengali MLAs from the BJP\u2019s nationalist party from the convention\u2026I express my disgust Shame,” he said.<\/p>\n

According to Bengal BJP legislators, water bottles were allegedly thrown at them from the treasury benches during the ruckus in the Bengal Assembly, further inflaming tempers.<\/p>\n

BJP spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari said Mamata Banerjee has completely lost her plot and she is scared of an imminent defeat.<\/p>\n

Mamata Banerjee and her dictatorial TMC regime once again proved that they cannot tolerate dissent, debate, or the voice of the opposition. In a shameful display, BJP Chief Whip Shankar Ghosh was suspended and physically assaulted by marshals, simply for raising his voice in the Bengali language row during the special session. Mamata Banerjee has completely lost her plot. She is scared of an imminent defeat,” he wrote on X.<\/p>\n

Mamata Banerjee Condemns BJP\u2019s \u2018Unparliamentary Conduct\u2019<\/h3>\n

The Chief Minister condemned the BJP MLAs for the “unparliamentary conduct”, asserting that they were attempting to derail a serious discussion concerning the rights and safety of Bengali migrants.<\/p>\n

In her speech, CM Mamata Banerjee alleged that the BJP is against the Bengali language, the poor, SCs and Hindus.<\/p>\n

\u201cA time will soon come when not a single BJP MLA will remain in Bengal. The people themselves will ensure it. BJP will face inevitable defeat, for no party that wages linguistic terror against Bengalis can ever win Bengal,” she said.<\/p>\n

The Chief Minister has been attacking the BJP over the alleged harassment of Bengali-speaking migrants in BJP-ruled states.<\/p>\n

As chaos prevailed, both the treasury and opposition benches started raising slogans, leading to multiple adjournments.<\/p>\n
