The Council has rationalised hotel tariffs, providing relief to travellers as rooms priced under \u20b91,000\/night remain GST-free, rooms between \u20b91,000 and \u20b97,500\/night will now be taxed at 12%, instead of 18% and premium hotels with tariffs above \u20b97,500 will continue to attract 18%. The shift is expected to ease costs for middle-class families booking trips for festivals, weddings and vacations.<\/p>\n

Yes, air travel also gets a significant correction as economy class tickets will attract just 5% GST, down from 12% and business class tickets will be taxed at 12%, reduced from 18%. The move will make flying more accessible, particularly for festive domestic travel, while offering some relief to business travellers.<\/p>\n
