A political row has erupted over the heavy downpour in Gurugram, as the city is reeling under inundated roads and hours-long traffic jams that have thrown normal life out of gear, with the BJP and Congress pointing fingers at each other.<\/p>\n

Gurugram is under fresh scrutiny as heavy rains have triggered severe waterlogging and flood-like situations in the Millennium City. People are seen wading through knee-deep water, commuters are stranded on roads for hours, and highways have turned into rivers.<\/p>\n

Residents, politicians and experts have expressed outrage over Gurugram\u2019s poor drainage infrastructure and urban planning, pointing out that the city suffers from flooded roads and paralysed traffic every monsoon. The situation was worse for villagers, as water entered their homes in low-lying areas.<\/p>\n

BJP, Congress Spar Over Gurugram Rains<\/strong><\/h2>\n

As Gurugram grapples with waterlogging and traffic disruptions, Congress workers took out a boat to show the condition of the streets after the rain, and shouted slogans against the BJP government in the state.<\/p>\n

However, BJP leader Nishikant Dubey hit out against the Congress, accusing the previous governments led by the opposition party of creating a \u201ccity of corruption” that has resulted in the current crisis.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf private builders, without government planning, collude with @INCIndia to build a city of corruption, it will turn into a city like Gurugram. What will the government do? Cases should be filed and action taken against those builders and the officials of the then government,” Dubey said on X.<\/p>\n

Congress Deepender Hooda hit back at Dubey\u2019s claims, pointing out that the BJP had controlled the state over the last 11 years. \u201cMere priya bhai Nishikant Dubey ji, 11 saal se BJP ki sarkar hai,phir bhi Gurugram kyon doobe ji?<\/em> (My dear brother Nishikant Dubey ji, the BJP has been in power for 11 years \u2014 Then why is Gurugram still submerged?).”<\/p>\n

Experts Weigh In On Gurugram Crisis<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Meanwhile, public dissatisfaction has soared over the Gurugram crisis. Speaking to CNN-News18, author Suhel Seth slammed the Haryana government, saying, \u201cGulistan beh gaya hai (the city has turned into a river).”<\/p>\n

\u201cIs this what you want the country to be? You talk about a smart city and you don\u2019t have any idea\u2026 They scoundrels suck the votes out of people. They say we are for the poor, but they are for no one. They are only for themselves. It is a self-serving prophecy, and unless someone is made accountable, nothing will change,” he said.<\/p>\n

BJP leader Raman Malik asserted that the Constitution needs to change and the bureaucracy needs to be answerable for any meaningful change. He said the ministers had their hands tied, and the judiciary was filled with nepotism.<\/p>\n

Red Alert In Gurugram<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Gurugram has seen severe flooding and traffic chaos after heavy rains over the past 48 hours. The India Meteorological Department has issued a Red Warning for the city, advising residents to stay indoors and avoid travel.<\/p>\n

A LocalCircles survey<\/a>, which captured over 23,000 responses from Delhi NCR residents, paints a grim picture of public dissatisfaction with civic bodies\u2019 preparedness. A total of 79 per cent surveyed residents rated their administration as poor or worse on waterlogging preparedness.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one responds to distress calls, there is congestion, cars breaking down, waiting in long traffic queues. The situation is very bad. This time, there were alerts issued by IMD, still the administration were not prepared for this,” Gurugram resident Major General Yash Mor told News18<\/em>.<\/p>\n
